A) Saint Valentine (Latin: Valentinus) was a widely recognized 3rd-century Roman saint commemorated on February 14 and associated since the High Middle Ages with a tradition of courtly love. B) Pope Valentine (~800–827) was Pope for two months in 827. Born in Rome in the Via Lata region, Valentine was the son of a Roman noble called Leontius. C) Valentinus (~100–160) was the best known and, for a time, most successful early Christian gnostic theologian. He founded his school in Rome.
