Meaning:*
Name of unknown meaning, but probably from the first Greek element “pólemos (πόλεμος) ptólemos (πτόλεμος),” which means “war, battle.” In Greek mythology, Poliporthus was a son of Odysseus and Penelope. He descended, on his mother's side, from the hero Perseus (the murderer of the Gorgon Medusa and savior of Princess Andromeda). He was born after his father returned to Ithaca after the Trojan War but had to wait about ten years before seeing him again. He appears in the Telegony, a poem that concludes the Trojan cycle, which was lost.
