This name could be a form of “Justina,” from the Latin “iustus,” meaning “legitimate, legal, lawful, established by law, fair, honest, impartial.” Jussara is a small town and municipality in Goiás state, Brazil. The city began as the Agricultural Colony of Água Limpa, belonging in the town of Goiás. In 1950 the name was changed to Jussara in tribute to Jussara Amorim, the first woman from Goiás to be elected Miss Brasil. On November 12, 1953, the village was elevated to the district. In 1958 it was removed from Goiás and raised to a municipality.
