Galileo

This name derives from the Hebrew “gâlı̂yl > Haggalil,” meaning “Galilean, from Galilee, a native of Galilee, circuit, the district.” Galilee is a vast region in northern Israel that overlaps with much of the country’s administrative north district and Haifa district. Galileo Galilei was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher who played a significant role in the scientific revolution. His achievements include improvements to the telescope and consequent astronomical observations and support for Copernicanism.
