The gens played a leading role in history immediately after the establishment of the Republic, and the three brothers participated in seven successive consulates, from 485 BC to 479. 1) Saint Fabius was a disciple of Saint Antimo. He is revered as a saint and martyr by the Catholic Church. 2) Saint Fabiola was a physician and Roman matron of a rank of the company of noble Roman women who, under the influence of the Church father St. Jerome, gave up all earthly pleasures and devoted themselves to the practice of Christian asceticism and charitable work.
