Name Root:
eû prâxis > Eupraxía
Meaning:*
This name derives from the Ancient Greek “Eupraxía (Ευπραξία),” composed of two elements: “eû ‎(εὖ)” (well) plus “prâxis (πρᾶξῐς)” (deed, action, activity, business dealing, success). In turn, the name means “good action, good conduct.” In Greek mythology, Eupraxia was the personification of well-being. She is mentioned once by Aeschylus, who cites a proverb according to which Eupraxia is the daughter of another two embodiments, Peitharchia and Soter. St. Eupraxia was the daughter of Constantinople Dignitary Antigonos, a relative of Emperor Theodosius the Great. Antigonus and his wife Eupraxia were pious and gave generously to the poor and hungry. Eupraxia of Kyiv (~1067–1109) was the daughter of Vsevolod I, Prince of Kyiv, and his Kypchak wife, Anna. She married Henry IV of Germany and took the name, Adelaide.
