His name originates from the Greek language and means “lovely, charming,” combined with the name Aphrodite. In Modern Greek means “dear to Aphrodite.” This is the name of the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. Her Roman equivalent is in Roman mythology is the goddess, Venus. Although married to Hephaestus she had many lovers, most notably Ares. Many folk etymologies have been proposed through the ages.
