This name derives from the Slavic “dȅda (де̏да)”, which in turn derives from the Proto-Slavic “*dědъ”, meaning “grandfather,” compared to with the Georgian “deda” (დედა), meaning “mother.” The interpretation of the two languages may be “relative.” The Dadeshkeliani (Georgian: დადეშქელიანი) was an aristocratic family from the mountainous western Georgian province of Svaneti. They ruled the Principality of Svaneti from the 1720s to 1857. 2) Konstantine Dadeshkeliani (1826–1857) was the last prince (mtavari) of the western Georgian mountainous region of Svaneti from 1841 to 1857. 3) Dadash Rzayev Garib oglu was Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan from February to June 1993 and is currently the Chairman of Confederation of Azerbaijani Officers in Reserve.
