In turn, the name means “combative as a wolf, the magic of the wolf.” 1) Haistulf was bishop of Mainz, German cities, a bishopric eighth century who became the ecclesiastical center of the whole of Germany. The feast day is traditionally celebrated on January 5. 2) Aistulf († 756) was the Duke of Friuli from 744, King of Lombards from 749, and Duke of Spoleto from 751. His father was the Duke Pemmo.
