Disdaining marriage, she requested her parents' permission to make a pilgrimage to the East's holy places. 2) St. Apollinaris was Bishop, martyr, and possible disciple of St. Peter. Apollinaris was born in Antioch, Turkey, and became the first bishop of Ravenna, in Italy. 3) Guillaume Apollinaire (1880–1918) was a French poet, playwright, short story writer, novelist, and art critic born in Rome, Italy, to a Polish mother.
